Fundamentals of Digital Marketing - Google Course Review

Fundamentals of Digital Marketing is a Google course that gives a good introduction to different areas of marketing required to grow a business digitally.

The course is made of 126 lessons divided into 26 modules. Each module contains about 5-6 lessons and after each lesson there is a test that verifies your knowledge based on real-life examples.

The main topics covered include:

  • How to move your business online. The course explains how to build your presence online through an online site and social networks and plan your online business strategy to stand out from the competition.
  • How to make your activity easily discoverable on the web. The course explains how to make your business discoverable through Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
  • How to reach more users locally, on social media, or mobile devices. The course explains how to promote local business activity, social media presence, possibilities of mobile apps, advertising, and content media marketing.
  • How to reach more customers with advertising. The course explains email marketing, advertising, and video marketing.
  • How to monitor and measure web traffic. The course explains web analytics and how to get valuable insights based on web analytics.
  • How to sell products or services online. The course explains how you can sell online through e-commerce and different strategies used to increase your sales such as retargeting.
  • How to expand business on a global scale. The course explains how to evaluate business opportunities in new markets and to expand using different techniques such as translation and localization, local advertising and social media marketing.

At the end of the course there is a final test, once passed gives you a nice certificate. my digital marketing certificate

What I liked about this course

I liked lessons about online business strategy as these lessons explain how to optimize your efforts online to achieve your goals and stand out from the competition. A particularly interesting section is about content marketing, that in my opinion is the best way to increase your presence online and customer base by providing high-quality content that is valuable for the users. In fact, in contrast to ads that very often are viewed as annoying and potentially decreasing brand awareness activity, content marketing is a genuine way to reach new customers by truly helping them by providing valuable information.
